St Andrews Castle
St Andrews Castle

St Andrews Castle is one of the most popular tourist attractions in St Andrews and it is in a picturesque location. The castle is next to the cathedral and both of these attractions are maintained my Historic Scotland. You can visit them individually but if you plan to see both then it is cheaper to buy a combo pass.

British Golf Museum

The British Golf Museum is appropriately located in St Andrews, the home of Golf. The musuem is only a short walk from the bus station and from the Old Course.

The museum has information on the history of golf and looks at its progression to its present day status. There are also exhibitions on unusual clubs, tournaments, famous players past and present and the rules of golf.

St Andrews Cathedral
St Andrews Cathedral
The grounds are free to walk around but there are a couple of museums and St Rue's Tower which are pay only areas. The tower offers a fantastic panoramic view of the town and is worth the climb to the top.

St Andrews Aquarium

The aquarium is situated on the sea front in a fantastic location with views of St Andrews Bay and the West Sands. There is a variety of sea creatures inside and it is bigger inside than it looks. Highlights include two resident seals named Laurel and Hardy whom are very popular with visitors.

There is also a gift shop and coffee shop inside and during the busy season their is a bistro styled restaurant.

The Old Course
Old Course

The Old Course is the world’s most famous golf course and it is also one of the worlds oldest golf courses. The course is one of seven golf courses in St Andrews and it is the most expensive and popular course in St Andrews. For many a round on the old course is a lifetime ambition and it is a challenging yet enjoyable experience.

For those who don’t play golf you can walk around the course on a Sunday as their is it is closed for play on that day. There is also a enjoyable putting green and a driving range nearby for those looking for a more informal golf experience.
